Bmw coolant light comes on and off3/15/2024 I was told by one of the members here that we should change the coils as well since we are at it. We think we have smelt coolant on separate occasions but assumed that it wasnt our vehicle. It stays on until the car is shut off and may or may not come back on when its turned on again. thats one of the reason why I enjoy even more driving around, nice freeways and no need for AC since I just roll down the window and get the cool breeeze. iTrader: ( 0) Low coolant light on one of many problems with our X3 The low coolant light came on for the first time this weekend. I work right by Miramar Air Station and live a little bit south. SD is where I'm actively looking to move to, I'm always day dreaming of rolling up and down the 5 or the 101 with the windows down enjoying the view and smell of the ocean! Haha. Let me know how changing the plugs go.are you changing the coils too? Man, you're in SD? That's so awesome, I use to be stationed in 29 Palms and spend some time in Camp Pendleton and every Saturday Morning I would jump in my 2000 Honda Civic Si and just drive up and down the 101 or the 5. Its a separate part from the tank itself and isnt terribly expensive. I do enjoy it, a lot! I still take a lunch just to drive my car, I always look at it as I walk away after I park her. It is the coolant float at the bottom of the expansion tank. I guess my question is, is it safe to drive my car as I haven't had any temp lights or CEL come on in the last couple of weeks? I have the new water pump and thermostat.should I go ahead and change it now or wait until it completely goes out? Your feedback and help is greatly appreciated. So, I did purchase the water pump kit that comes with a thermostat.I ordered it from ''. After doing a lot of reading, it looks like my water pump may go out soon. I rechecked my fluid level and I haven't lost any fluid. However, 4 days later as I'm sitting in traffic the Yellow temp light comes back on, I was less than half a mile from home so I drove home and turned my car off, during that drive the light turned off?!?! Again, my car did not go into limp mode. Thinking the issue may have been resolved by adding coolant I drove the car around the neighborhood to test it out and the temp light did not come back up. I bought a gallon of coolant fluid from BMW my car took half the gallon to get back to the recommended level. I waited a few hours and checked the coolant fluid and noticed it was low. About 3 weeks ago I turned on my car on and remained in park with the AC on as I took a phone call.still in park and about 15 minutes later my Yellow temperature light came on followed by the Red temperature light, so I immediately turned my vehicle off (vehicle did not go into limp mode as I immediately turned it off). Up to this point my E90 has been a great car with no issues.
